Daily Sun’s sister newspaper, Sunday Sun reported over the weekend that Mary had been told by her agent that she’d been invited as a VIP guest to the glitzy soapie awards event at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre in Durban.
“I spent thousands of rands in Sandton in preparation for the event.”
Strangely, further details of the event weren’t sent to Mary until it was too late and she missed it altogether.
Winnie confirmed that the invite was sent but an agent failed to respond. Over the weekend, Winnie phoned Mary.
“She apologised unconditionally. She explained that my agent didn’t respond to the invitation. It’s really not her fault and I’ve accepted her apology,” said Mary.
Mary said she was disappointed with her agent for dropping the ball.
“Wesley Gainer from Moonyeenn Lee and Associates informed me about the invite but he didn’t follow up. I think I should talk to him,” she said.
Gainer refused to comment.
Winnie said: “I’m glad she understood that it’s not my fault. We would’ve enjoyed her presence as an elder in the field of arts. But we hope to have her next time.”
